  • Pastoral Council Meeting
  • Monday January 26, 2009
  • Start Time:   Meeting commenced at 7:11PM
  • Opening Prayer:   Delivered by Irene Mullins
  • Attendees: Irene Mullins, Jim Klosterman, Lou Mullady Lillie Brookman, Ruben Fernandez, Terry Hazlett,  Mary Land, Scott Griffin, Alene Griffin, Jane Fernandez
  • Minutes:  Corrections:  Ad Hoc Committees….Baby is 18 months old.  Archdiocese under Fr. Steve report corrected to one word.  Scott made the motion to approve minutes.  Lou Mullady seconded the motion. The motion was passed.
  • Financial Report:  Mission Local Account is not $7,309.67.  This includes $2,498.41 from Oktoberfest and the General Fund is at $3,571.22. The last of Oktoberfest donation was turned in by Jim Klosterman. Irene has $250 from the Christmas Party that was returned to us from the Community Club.  Financial Report was received and accepted as presented.
  • Ministry Reports:
  • Hospitality:  .Mary Land has $170.00 to turn in to Terry.     It was requested that Irene announce again that the children need to be at their end of the table to avoid collision and confusion.
  • Liturgical Ministry:    Ruthanne is ill so is absent.   Lillie reported that Ash Wednesday is the last week of the month.   Mass will be at Meadowlark with the same setup.     We will confirm the time of the Mass at our next meeting at on February 23th.
  •  
  • Religious Education:   Max was not present.     A parishioner has a son that made his First Communion and would like to attend Altar Server class.   Irene will submit the name and information to Max via email
  • Youth Group:  Elaine and Eleanora have volunteered to do yard work for people in the community.   They are going to plan something for Easter for the children.   The Youth Group still needs to set up their account with Terry.   
  • Outreach:  Food Drive was a huge success.  We supplied 4 families with food over the holidays.  The Acton Royalty Court sponsored the Coreo family and other families as well.  Perkin’ Up had food for us to distribute also.   The last box of food Irene dropped off at the Presbyterian churches local food drive. 
  • Ad Hoc Committees: 
  • Fund Raisers:  
  • Christmas party is booked for Dec 12. 
  • Ice Cream Social will be with the last Gymkhana, which will be August 2.
  • Oktoberfest, we put in our reservation for the new St. Mary’s center.
  • Bingo was presented to Fr.
  • Rent of Building is $100.00
  • We would buy Sub sandwiches/Food
  • Bake sale for Feb 8, Valentine’s Day celebration.
  • New Issues:  Bingo---review email from Fr. with issues:
  • Hard to get people to work the function  ( we have 22 people)
  • Pushing too hard for our building to come soon.  (it would help our building fund grow)
  • Wants to see an increase in Mass attendance (attendance is up)
  • Wants to see us pay $10-$15K for a proper master plan….believes we need $2-$3 million.    We do not want this.  John and Lou to meet to see out grading property and with a steel building with furnishing.
  • Present to Council and Committee (we did on Sunday to the community and here tonight at the Council.
  • Meet with him and discuss it.
  • From the church community, the feelings are as follows:

  • From those present at this council meeting, a consensus was taken of those in attendance (10 people) and it was unanimously agreed that a 3 month trial would be supported
  • Send Lou and Scott a synopsis of what was discussed tonight.
  • Unfinished Business:

 Christmas Party.   Irene and Mary will help with the set up for next year.   Madison did a great job with the arrangement for the children

 

Nominating Committee:   This is to be formed in March.    Irene has asked 2 people already, and plans to ask 3 more.   The Chairperson position is up this year.   Marilyn Wade was asked.   

 

Monsignor Steve Report: Not present at this meeting due to a trip to San Diego.
